Correction (5 November 2026): an earlier version of this report said Ferencváros were top of the league phase and AC Milan 26th. Those positions were based on incomplete results. After all matchday-four games, UEFA standings put Ferencváros third and Milan 28th. The headline and table section have been corrected. The 0-2 score was correct.
Ferencváros stunned AC Milan 0-2 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to stay perfect in the Europa League league phase, Lenny Joseph scoring both second-half goals before substitute Bamidele Yusuf was sent off late on.

How the match unfolded
The first half at San Siro finished goalless. Milan enjoyed long spells of possession without finding a clear route through Ferencváros’ compact block, and the visitors waited for transitions rather than chasing the ball.
The breakthrough came seven minutes into the second half. Kristoffer Zachariassen worked the chance and Lenny Joseph finished to make it 0-1. Milan’s response was muted. Fourteen minutes later Zachariassen was involved again and Joseph struck a second, completing his brace and leaving Ruben Amorim’s side with a two-goal deficit at home.
Ferencváros then began to manage the game. Joseph was withdrawn on 67 minutes for Bamidele Yusuf as the Hungarian champions looked to close the contest. That plan was complicated on 77 minutes when Yusuf was shown a red card for violent conduct after a VAR review upgraded the decision, leaving Ferencváros with 10 men for the final stretch.
Even with the numerical advantage, Milan struggled to create. BBC match stats recorded only one shot on target for the hosts against eight for Ferencváros, despite Milan holding close to 69 percent of possession. Dénes Dibusz and the visiting defence saw out the remaining minutes to protect a famous away win.
What does the result mean in the table?
Ferencváros are third in the 36-team league phase on 12 points from four matches, according to UEFA standings after all matchday-four games. They are still perfect with four wins and a goal difference of plus eight, level on points with Benfica and Bournemouth, who sit above them on goal difference.
AC Milan are 28th on three points from four games (one win, three defeats). The San Siro loss deepens an already difficult European start that included a 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth on matchday 3. Domestic form offers some contrast after their recent Serie A win over Atalanta, but the league-phase standing is already a concern.
How Ferencváros controlled San Siro
Joseph’s brace was clinical, and Zachariassen’s involvement in both goals gave Ferencváros a clear attacking pattern once the game opened after half-time. Milan’s high share of the ball never translated into pressure on Dibusz’s goal.
Yusuf’s late red forced the visitors to defend deep, yet Milan’s lack of shots on target meant the numerical shift never produced a comeback. Full Europa League standings and reports are on the Europa League page.
