Herman Haugen headed a 90th-minute equaliser as Viking stunned Bayern Munich 3-3 at Lyse Arena in Champions League Matchday 2. The Norwegian champions led 2-0 at half-time, watched Harry Kane and Luis Díaz turn the game around, then levelled after Michael Olise was sent off — one of the shocks of the league-phase night.

How the match unfolded

Viking pressed high from the first whistle and won an early corner. Zlatko Tripić's outswinging delivery was met by Gianni Stensness, who guided a header low past Jonas Urbig in the second minute.

Bayern dominated the ball afterwards — Michael Olise and Luis Díaz both forced saves from Arild Østbø — but Viking struck again on the counter in the 38th minute. They won the ball in their own box, three passes later Erik Botheim found Peter Christiansen, and the striker finished neatly for 2-0. Kane headed straight at Østbø from an Olise cross when Bayern's best first-half chance came.

Vincent Kompany made three changes at the break, sending on Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano and Ismael Saibari. After a VAR review for a foul on Laimer in the build-up, Kane converted a penalty in the 54th minute. Six minutes later Kimmich's cross found Kane at the far post for 2-2.

The turnaround was complete in the 71st minute. Kane clipped a ball into Laimer, who rolled it across for Díaz to fire into an empty net and make it 2-3. Two minutes later Olise received successive yellow cards — for a foul, then dissent — and was sent off.

With Bayern down to 10, Viking pushed. In the 90th minute Tripić beat his man and clipped the ball to the far post, where substitute Haugen headed beyond Urbig to make it 3-3. Christiansen was denied by Urbig in stoppage time as the home crowd roared.

What the result means

Viking take their first league-phase point after losing to Stuttgart on Matchday 1. Bayern move to four points; Kane said afterwards mistakes were punished and that on another day they might have scored five or six, while taking the point and moving on.

The draw keeps Bayern in the upper half of the phase ahead of a home meeting with Arsenal — previewed in BetAlert's Arsenal–Lille team news. Elsewhere, Atlético beat Manchester United and Barcelona won in Istanbul; club form around those sides includes Atlético's win at Alavés and Barcelona's 3-0 over Getafe.
