Anthony Gordon scored inside two minutes and Gabriel Jesus and Jules Koundé added goals as Barcelona beat Getafe 3-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou to make it eight wins from eight in La Liga. Hansi Flick's leaders, without the injured Raphinha, equalled the club's best start to a league season, from 2013-14.

How the match unfolded

Barcelona needed only 77 seconds to go ahead. Gordon drove at the Getafe defence from the left, beat more than one defender on the edge of the box and fired a right-footed shot into the net, with the ball taking a deflection on the way. According to statistician Mister Chip, quoted by Goal, it was Barcelona's fastest La Liga goal since May 2023.

The hosts controlled the ball for long spells. Gavi and Lamine Yamal had shots blocked, and Getafe goalkeeper David Soria saved a Gavi header from Yamal's cross. At the other end, Iván Azón forced a save from Joan Garcia in the 26th minute.

Gabriel Jesus, making his first start for the club, doubled the lead in the 30th minute with a low right-footed finish inside the left post. Getafe then lost defender Zaid Romero to a left-leg injury, with Abdel Abqar replacing him in the 37th minute. Johan Mojica and Kiko Femenía were both booked before the break.

Dani Olmo was booked early in the second half, and Soria saved low shots from Gordon and Olmo. Flick sent on Pedri and Fermín López on the hour for Olmo and Gavi, while Getafe coach José Bordalás made a triple change in the 65th minute.

The third goal came in the 73rd minute. Yamal delivered a corner and Koundé finished from close range with his left foot. VAR checked the goal before it was confirmed. Gordon had already been replaced by Karim Adeyemi in the 71st minute.

Getafe offered little in reply. Davinchi shot high from distance in the 86th minute, while Yamal and Fermín, who was booked late on, both went close for Barcelona in the closing stages.

What the win means

Barcelona move on to 24 points from eight games and stay top with a perfect record. They are five points clear of second-placed Atlético Madrid, who won 2-1 at Alavés earlier on Saturday. Gordon now has four goals and five assists in all competitions this season, according to Goal.

Getafe, coached by Bordalás, stay on eight points.

What comes next

Barcelona travel to Istanbul to face Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday (20:00 UK).
