Torino 1-3 Como: Nico Paz inspires late comeback with goal and assist

Como forward Nico Paz, in the club's white away kit, holds his hands to his face as he celebrates during the Serie A win at Torino, with team-mate Martin Baturina (No 20) in the foreground on the left.

Como scored three times in the last 11 minutes to win 3-1 at Torino on Tuesday night, with Nico Paz setting up Jacobo Ramón's equaliser and then heading the winner at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Ché Adams had put Torino ahead in the first half, and substitute Martin Baturina added the third in stoppage time as Cesc Fàbregas's side won a third Serie A match in a row.

How the match unfolded

Como thought they had scored inside the first five minutes, but Anastasios Douvikas was flagged offside after running on to Lucas Da Cunha's pass and lifting the ball over Lucas Perri. Torino, chasing a fourth straight league win, carried a threat on the break, and Robert Sánchez saved from Rafik Belghali and Nikola Vlašić. Como also had penalty appeals waved away when Da Cunha went down under a challenge from Daniel Bragança.

The hosts went ahead in the 24th minute. Ramón tried to play his way out of his own area, Kian Fitz-Jim stole the ball and rolled it across, and Adams finished first time from close range. Como pushed for a reply before the break, with Perri saving Ramón's header from close in, but Torino defended well and led 1-0 at half-time.

Both sides hit the woodwork after the restart. Maxence Caqueret struck the crossbar for Como after a one-two with Paz, and around the hour Sánchez got a hand to a Giovanni Simeone header that came back off the bar. Sánchez also kept out Gvidas Gineitis on the counter, and Baturina's cross-shot bounced off the top of the bar in the 77th minute.

The pressure finally told in the 81st minute, when Paz swung a cross to the far post and Ramón headed in to make up for his earlier error. Six minutes later Yan Couto crossed from the right and Paz rose to head Como in front. Two minutes into stoppage time Baturina pounced on a mistake by Vlašić on the edge of the area and swept the ball past Perri.

What it means

Como move up to 20 points and fourth place in the provisional table, with most of matchday nine still to be played on Wednesday and Thursday. The result follows their 4-1 Champions League win over Manchester United last week, in which Paz scored twice.

For Ignazio Abate's Torino, the defeat ends a run of three straight league wins that included the 3-2 home victory over Monza. They stay on 13 points in eighth place.

What's next

Torino travel to Frosinone on Sunday, while Como host Venezia the same day.
