How the match unfolded

Getafe had the first chance when Sebastián Boselli headed just wide from Ramón Terrats's set-piece delivery in the fifth minute, but Sevilla took the lead in the 19th. Félix Correia swung in a corner and Kike Salas headed it into the top corner.

Sevilla lost Isaac Romero to injury in the 27th minute, with Manu Bueno replacing him, and Gabriel Suazo was booked in the same minute. Luis García Plaza's side created the better chances before the break: Lucas Stassin and Chidera Ejuke both shot wide, and David Soria saved from Ejuke and Suazo.

José Bordalás sent on Mangala and Davinchi for Francho Serrano and Jean Valou at half-time. Soria kept Getafe in the game in the 61st minute, saving from Correia, and Odysseas Vlachodimos stopped Andrés García's shot at the other end moments later.

Getafe equalised in the 68th minute. Satriano crossed and Ünal finished with his right foot from the centre of the box.

Five minutes later came the game's turning point. Andrés García won the ball from Manu Bueno, who went down, and the assistant referee raised his flag for a foul. Referee Víctor García Verdura had not blown his whistle, so play continued while Sevilla's defenders stopped, and Satriano finished Ünal's cross with a backheel. The goal was given after a long VAR review. Sevilla's Lucien Agoumé, Andrés Castrín and unused substitute Arouna Sangante were booked in the 77th minute.

García Plaza had already sent on Robbie Ure and Rubén Vargas for Youssouf Fofana and Correia in the 72nd minute. Satriano headed wide in the 83rd minute, and Getafe's Nemanja Gudelj was booked a minute later.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Bueno was shown a straight red card for stopping Satriano as he broke towards goal. Three minutes later Mangala sealed the win with a right-footed shot into the bottom corner from Andrés García's pass.

What does the win mean for Getafe?

The result keeps Bordalás's side unbeaten at home in La Liga this season and gives them their first league win since 20 September. Getafe had conceded nine goals in their previous two league and European games, losing 5-2 at home to Lugano in the Conference League and 4-0 at Athletic Club last Sunday. They are 12th on 12 points after Sunday's early games, and they host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Conference League on Thursday before visiting Villarreal next Sunday.

What happens next for Sevilla?

The defeat ended a run of two straight wins for Sevilla, who beat Osasuna 2-0 last Monday after a 4-1 loss to Real Madrid. They are sixth on 17 points and host Alavés on Friday. Alavés were beaten 6-1 by Barcelona on Saturday. More results are in our La Liga section.
