Osasuna have sacked Luis Miguel Ramis after only eight La Liga games and turned straight back to Jagoba Arrasate, who returns to El Sadar on a contract until 30 June 2029.
The club announced both decisions on Monday, the day after a 5-2 defeat by Real Betis at La Cartuja left them on eight points from eight matches, with two wins.
Board ends Ramis's spell after four months
Osasuna said the board took the decision at a meeting on Monday morning, with the backing of the club's sporting management. Ramis's whole staff leave with him: assistant José Manuel Gil, Iván Madroño, fitness coach Miguel Ángel Fernández and analyst José Fajardo.
Ramis, 55, was appointed on 10 June on a two-year deal after a strong season at Burgos in the second tier. Osasuna was his first job in La Liga. He had replaced Alessio Lisci, who left the club on 25 May.
Arrasate back where he made his name
Arrasate has managed Osasuna in 256 matches, the second-highest total in the club's history. He first arrived in 2018 and won the second-division title and promotion in his first season. Five comfortable top-flight campaigns followed, including the 2023 Copa del Rey final, qualification for the Conference League and the club's first appearance in the Spanish Super Cup.
He left Pamplona in 2024 for Mallorca, where he took charge of 68 matches before being dismissed in February 2026 with the team in the relegation zone. His new deal covers the rest of this season and two more, and his former assistant Bittor Alkiza returns with him. The club said further details about the coaching staff would follow.
What happens next
Arrasate will be presented at El Sadar on Tuesday and will lead his first training session at Tajonar on Wednesday, open to the public. His first game back is Sunday's home league match against Racing de Santander.
