How the match unfolded

Betis, chasing a long unbeaten league run and a seventh straight La Liga win at their adopted home, struck early. In the 10th minute Unai Santos caught Rodrigo Riquelme with a hand as the winger burst into the box; Isco sent Aitor Fernández the wrong way from the spot into the bottom left for 1-0 — his first Betis goal of the season.

The hosts kept pressing. Around the half-hour mark Isco pressured Santos into a giveaway, and after a sequence of passes Cucho Hernández threaded Abde Ezzalzouli through to slot past Fernández for 2-0. Ezzalzouli has now scored in three successive meetings with Osasuna. Betis went in 2-0 up at the break.

Three minutes into the second half the lead looked decisive. Cucho flicked an Isco free-kick onto Budimir's head, the ball bounced off Diego Llorente and back off Budimir into the net for an own goal and 3-0. Budimir atoned almost immediately: after a deflection off Héctor Bellerín, Rubén García teed him up and he fired in at 51' to make it 3-1. Five minutes later Betis failed to clear a corner, Alejandro Catena swept the ball across, and Raúl García finished at the far post for 3-2.

Pellegrini's side refused a nervous finish. In the 67th minute a defensive mix-up and a series of rebounds left Isco to fire into the top left for 4-2 — his first brace since February 2025 — after a VAR check cleared a possible Natan foul on Rubén García in the build-up. Deep in added time, debutant José Antonio Morante (on for Ezzalzouli in the second minute of stoppage) latched onto a Bellerín through-ball and drove in from outside the box for 5-2 in the sixth minute of added time.

What the result means

Betis stay third on 19 points from eight games, level with Atlético Madrid and six points clear of fifth, and extend their La Cartuja league win streak. Osasuna sit 15th on eight points after an eighth defeat in 11 away league matches this season. Betis turn next to Porto in midweek with only one loss in their last 17 league meetings with Osasuna.
