Ligue 1Confirmed

Troyes vs Marseille: Weah banned as bottom sides meet at L'Aube

Promoted Troyes host Marseille at the Stade de l'Aube on Sunday night in a Ligue 1 fixture that already carries relegation weight: the visitors sit 17th on three points, one place and one point behind the hosts.

Kick-off is 19:45 UK. Marseille have won only once in five league games this season; Troyes have one win, one draw and three defeats from five.

Absentees and fitness

Marseille captain Timothy Weah is suspended for matchday 6 after his red card in the derby against Paris Saint-Germain, Ligue 1 confirmed in its international-break injury round-up. The same update said Olympique de Marseille hope Amine Gouiri will be available after returning early from Algeria duty with an injury, while noting Pierre-Emile Højbjerg's muscle problem with Denmark and concerns over Himad Abdelli and Derek Cornelius.

Troyes midfielder Alexandre Phliponeau has been back in action after the break, according to the same Ligue 1 report. Confirmed starting XIs will come from the clubs closer to kick-off.

Bottom-half pressure

The Ligue 1 table after Saturday's fixtures leaves both sides in the danger zone. Troyes are 16th on four points with a goal difference of minus seven; Marseille are 17th on three, ahead of Le Havre (18th, two points). Monaco lead the division on 14 points, with Lille second on 13 after Saturday's results.

Marseille's recent league form has been poor: four defeats in five, including the loss to PSG. Troyes have struggled for goals, scoring four in five league matches while conceding 11. A win for either would be a significant early-season boost in a tight lower half.

What happens next

Earlier on Sunday, Nice face Strasbourg at 14:00 UK and Rennes host Auxerre at 16:15 UK. Troyes and Marseille then meet at 19:45 UK, with both needing points to climb clear of the relegation places before midweek European and domestic commitments resume.
