Manchester City host two-time European champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday (20:00 UK) in the Champions League league phase, with Erling Haaland one goal away from becoming the club's record scorer in the competition and Pep Guardiola expected back in the stands for the first time since leaving in the summer.
It is also City's first home game since they were found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules, a verdict the club are appealing. Both sides won on matchday one: City 2-0 at Porto, PSG 6-1 at home to Slovan Bratislava.
Team news
City have a fully fit squad. Phil Foden is available again after serving a three-match domestic suspension, and Jérémy Doku is pushing for a start after scoring in the 3-0 win at Liverpool on Sunday. That result kept Enzo Maresca's side perfect in the Premier League and made it eight wins from eight in all competitions.
Luis Enrique has named a 23-man squad that includes Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes, who were both rested for the 3-1 win over Le Mans. Senny Mayulu and Alessandro Longoni are out injured. Former City forward Ferran Torres, who scored a hat-trick against Slovan, has seven goals in eight games since joining from Barcelona.
Haaland chasing Agüero
According to Opta, Haaland has 36 Champions League goals for City in 40 appearances, level with Sergio Agüero, who needed 64 games. One more would make him the club's outright leading scorer in the competition. He scored both goals in Porto and opened the scoring at Anfield.
PSG arrive unbeaten in their last 11 Champions League matches and nine in a row against English opposition in the competition. They failed to win any of their first three Ligue 1 games but have now won four in a row in all competitions. The last meeting between the clubs, in the league phase in January 2025, ended 4-2 to PSG after City had led 2-0 early in the second half.
What the managers said
Maresca said City needed "the perfect performance because they are the best team in Europe", but added that, "doing our best, I think we can beat them and be happy at the end." He also defended his players' celebrations at Anfield: "We won 3-0 at Anfield, what do you want us to do?" On Guardiola's return, he said: "It's still his house, for what he has done here."
Luis Enrique called the trip "a real challenge" and said of the financial verdict: "I hope everything works out well for Manchester City because I think what they have done on the pitch has been incredible over the last few years." He will also face goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who left PSG for City. "I'm happy for him and his new chapter at Manchester City," he said.

The match is live on TNT Sports and HBO Max in the UK. City host Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday, then welcome AEK Athens in the Champions League.
