Arsenal have confirmed that United States international Emily Fox has signed a new contract with the club.

The official announcement on Thursday, 24 September 2026, said Arsenal were “delighted” to keep their number 2 after a rapid rise since she arrived from North Carolina Courage in January 2024. Fox has made 93 appearances and scored three goals in all competitions for Arsenal. The club statement did not publish the length of the new deal.

What Arsenal confirmed

Fox cemented herself as first-choice right-back soon after joining and helped Arsenal win the League Cup within two months of her move to north London. Fresh from Olympic gold with the United States in Paris in 2024, she then played a central role in Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League triumph in May 2025 — the club’s second European crown.

A third major trophy followed in the 2025/26 season when Arsenal became the inaugural winners of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, beating Corinthians 3-2 in the final at Emirates Stadium. Fox provided a key assist for Lotte Wubben-Moy’s second Arsenal goal in that match.

Individual recognition and Fox’s reaction

Arsenal highlighted Fox’s consistency with individual honours across her two full seasons: selection in the PFA Women’s Super League Team of the Year and the UEFA Women’s Champions League Team of the Year in both campaigns, plus a Ballon d’Or nomination in 2025. The Virginia-born defender, now 28, has won 78 caps for the United States since her senior debut in 2018 and also holds CONCACAF gold with the USA alongside the Olympic title.

“I’m so happy to be extending my stay here,” Fox said in Arsenal’s announcement. “This has felt like home since the moment I joined, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to continue to represent this club and compete for titles. To be a part of Arsenal is to be a part of something bigger, and I feel like I’m in the best place to keep pushing for more.”

Speaking separately to BBC Sport, she called staying an “easy decision,” pointing to Arsenal’s environment, ambition and investment in the women’s game, and said there was still unfinished business around a Women’s Super League title.

What it means next

The renewal keeps one of the world’s leading full-backs in Arsenal colours as Renée Slegers’ side builds on European and Champions Cup success. Arsenal’s statement offered no further contract terms beyond the confirmation that Fox has signed a new deal. Everyone at the club, the announcement said, looks forward to her continued contribution.
