Report it in four places: your bank or payment provider (to try to stop the payment), your police or national fraud-reporting centre, the platform where the tipster contacted you, and Bet Alert, so the account can be reviewed for the public database and others are warned. Reporting to Bet Alert is free and can be anonymous.
Report in this order
- Your bank or payment provider: Ask whether the payment can be stopped, recalled or charged back. Banks can do more the sooner you call. Have ready: Amount, date, payment reference, recipient details
- Police / national fraud centre: Gives you a reference number for your bank and adds to the cases investigators see. Have ready: What happened, who contacted you, what you paid and how
- The platform (Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, X): Use the in-app report button and choose "Scam" or "Fraud" so the account or channel can be removed. Have ready: Username, channel or group link
- Bet Alert: We review every report and may publish verified records in our public database, so the next person who searches the name is warned. Have ready: Usernames, links, payment details, screenshots
Official reporting contacts by country
- United Kingdom: Report Fraud — reportfraud.police.uk. If you live in Scotland, contact Police Scotland via 101. If you suspect a match was actually fixed (a sporting integrity concern rather than a tipster scam), you can also tell the Gambling Commission in confidence.
- United States: FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) — ic3.gov
- European Union: report to your national police first; for cross-border fraud, see Europol — europol.europa.eu/report-a-crime
- Australia: ReportCyber and Scamwatch — scamwatch.gov.au
- Canada: Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre — antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca
- Anywhere else: report to your local police, who can pass international cases on to INTERPOL, or search "[your country] report online fraud".
Evidence to save before you report
- Screenshots of the profile, channel and all chats
- Usernames, phone numbers, channel and website links
- Payment receipts, transaction IDs, wallet addresses and bank details they gave you
- Dates of first contact and of each payment
Don't pay anyone to "recover" your money
People who contact you after a scam offering to get your money back for a fee are running a second scam. See recovery scams and what to do if you paid a fixed match tipster and got scammed.
Report to Bet Alert
Bet Alert is a free volunteer project. We never sell tips, memberships or paid checks, and we cannot recover lost money, but we can warn others. Submit a report (you can stay anonymous) or search the scammer database.
Help warn the next person
Search the public database or tell us about a suspicious account.
